Some of the women are known for their brave actions or deceitful behavior, while others are recognized as wives and mothers of well-known figures such as Solomon, Boaz, Moses, John the Baptist, and Jesus. The women in this collection include Esther, who saved her kingdom from Haman’s treachery; Jezebel, the queen who worshipped idols; Judith, who killed Holofernes and saved her city; Bathsheba, who was the mother of Solomon and whose beauty led to David’s crime; Deborah, who was both a great judge and prophet and known as The Mother of Israel; The Queen of Sheba, who tested Solomon’s wisdom; Delilah, who betrayed Samson to his enemies; and Mary Magdalen, who was the first to witness the risen Christ.
