Take a journey through early United States history with the US History-Based Writing Lessons from IEW! This writing curriculum is centered on a theme, allowing students in grades 6-8 to explore the excitement of explorers, battles, land expansion, famous ships, and founding fathers while learning to use the Structure and Style writing method. Covering all nine IEW Units, these lessons offer a full year of instruction.
The Student Workbook includes helpful resources such as vocabulary cards, literature suggestions, and access to PDF downloads. It also has assignments, instructions, engaging source texts, blank outlines, checklists, sample compositions, and clever vocabulary cards.
The Teacher’s Manual includes answer keys, embedded images of student pages, teaching tips, vocabulary quizzes, student exemplars, simplified source texts, and advanced source texts for older students.
It is recommended that an instructor who has been through the Institute for Excellence in Writing’s Teaching Writing: Structure and Style seminar (either live or on DVD) use these lessons. This kit includes:
