Description

The ShillerMath program is a math curriculum that is based on the Montessori teaching method. It covers concepts from PreK to Pre-Algebra and is divided into three kits, sold separately. Kit I is designed for students from PreK to Grade 3, with a focus on Fractions. Kit II is for students in 4th grade to Pre-Algebra. The program is designed to cater to all four learning styles, namely visual, tactile, auditory, and kinesthetic, to help students have a deeper understanding of the material. The lessons are presented in bite-sized pieces and require no prior knowledge of Montessori or math. Teachers simply read the scripted lesson.

The amount of time spent on the program varies depending on the student’s age, ranging from 15 minutes per day for 4-year-olds to 30-45 minutes per day for students aged 9 and up. Teachers do not follow a rigid lesson plan but instead observe their students to determine if they are ready to move on to the next lesson or if they need further review of the current one. Each lesson is clearly laid out in the book, with the objective, manipulatives required, learning styles used, and any consumables needed. The answer key features the student workbook pages with the correct answers overlaid in red ink.

The contents of ShillerMath Kit I include an Audio CD with 25 original ShillerMath songs, Lesson Books 1, 2, and 3, a Parent Guide, a foam ball, a bag with a string tie, a geared clock, a mirror, an 18 x 34 work mat, and a set of squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, diamonds, trapezoids, parallelograms, and hearts. It also includes an operator set, a numbers bank with a partitioned wood tray containing 27 each of 1, 10, 100, and 1000 number tiles, as well as sets of number cards from 1-9, 10-90, 100-900, and 1000-9000.
