The Singapore Math Primary Mathematics: Common Core Edition books have been updated as needed to align with the CCSS without reducing the level of difficulty. Instead of moving content to later levels as per the CCSS, Singapore Math revisits and explores concepts more deeply at the CCSS level.

The Primary Math Common Core Edition series uses the Concrete>Pictorial>Abstract approach. Students start by learning concretely and pictorially before moving to abstract thinking, fostering active thinking, communication of mathematical ideas, and problem-solving. The spiral approach emphasizes mastery through the modeling method, helping students visualize problems to develop specific skills. Concepts are introduced and then taught to mastery with regular reviews to consolidate learning.

Primary Mathematics Common Core Edition Textbook 1B covers numbers up to 40, multiplication, division, time, numbers up to 120, and money. This 142-page softcover book is designed for the second semester of Grade 1. These non-consumable textbooks are intended for use with adult supervision and teaching. The separately sold Primary Mathematics Standards Edition 1B Workbook correlates directly with this Textbook. It should be used alongside it, as it includes the learning tasks, practice, and review problems needed for mastery.
